Art & Appreciation
In choosing Leaving Certificate Art students will continue to develop their creative skills and techniques.
The Senior Cycle Art comprises 4 components: Coursework – 200 marks (students have 10 weeks to complete this component), Life Sketching – 50 marks, Art History and Appreciation – 150 marks.
Students will be given themes to brainstorm, explore and develop in to a unique and personable project in painting, ceramics and printmaking. Students will also further their skills in life drawing. Students will learn the History of Irish art and European art.
Students can choose to do Ordinary or Higher level.
Students in 5th year take a trip to the Stone Age burial site at Newgrange and in 6th Year take a trip to the National Gallery of Ireland.
Many of our students have gone on to third level Art and Design college courses.
