Student leadership  is valued within our school community. We have a core student leadership team, who take the responsibility to motivate and support other student leaders, who in turn take responsibility to listen and support all students in partnership with school management, staff and parents.

Our leadership team for  2017-2018 are

Head Girl: Nikita Nolan   Deputy Head Girl: Leah Ellis

Head Mentor: Chloe Powell   Head Prefect: Taylor Murray

This team is supported by our

6th Year  Prefects

Prefects are appointed from our sixth year student group.  Their appointment follows a written application and interview by the Chairperson of the Board Management, a school representative and one of our business partners.  An appointment to this leadership position in our school is a reflection of how the students  have embraced the core values of courtesy, respect and responsibility and the leadership potential displayed during their junior years.  Prefects are ambassadors for St. Dominic’s and excellent role models for other students.  These prefects have the special responsibility to support our second year students in partnership with their Year Head and tutors.

Along with the Mentors, they have had the opportunity to attend Leadership Training to encourage them to develop further their sense of responsibility and communication skills.

The 6th Year prefect team for 2017-2018 are Alicia Butterly, Danyt Teib, Ava Duffy, Holly Monaghan and Niamh Lennon.

This team is supported by our

5th Year Student Mentors

These students, along with our School Completion Programme (SCP) Team and  the First Year Care Team have the responsibility of helping first year students settle into St. Dominic’s  and make the transition from primary to secondary education more enjoyable and less daunting.

Our 5th Year mentors play a very important role in our transfer programme Mol an Óige that begins when they are Transition Year students and our prospective first year students are still in primary school. during the month of August they return early from their school holidays, to assist in our two-day induction workshops for incoming first year students and their parents/ guardians.  Having a very special role during our family lunch and fun day

They each take responsibility for a small number of students in one tutor group. They meet with them every day during Tutorial. Their participation with activities focused on the first year group helps develop the mentor/student relationship. They are available to answer questions and advise the first year students.   They liaise with the First Year Care Team informing them of any concerns that may arise with their mentees.

Along with the Prefects, they too have had the opportunity to attend Leadership Training to encourage them to develop further their sense of responsibility and communication skills.

Our 5th Year Mentor Team 2017 – 2018 are
